Simulation Interoperability Across Parallel DEVS Models Ex- pressed in Multiple Programming Languages
نویسندگان
چکیده
Research efforts have focused on developing methods and technologies to support interoperability among different simulations. In addition, modeling and simulation frameworks have also been extended to support distributed simulation. In this research we present a many-to-many approach to model to simulator mapping. The goal is for a Parallel DEVS model described in one programming language to be executed using a simulator implemented in another programming language. This approach supports simultaneous execution of a set of DEVS-based models written in different programming languages. A prototype distributed simulation environment consisting of the DEVSJAVA and Adevs has been developed to simulate DEVS and non-DEVS models described in any of the Java, C++, and Visual Basic programming languages.

متن کاملDEVS-Based Simulation Interoperability
This chapter introduces the usage of DEVS for the purpose of implementing interoperability across heterogeneous simulation models. It shows that the DEVS framework provides a simple, yet effective conceptual basis for handling simulation interoperability. It discusses the various useful properties of the DEVS framework, describes the Shared Abstract Model (SAM) approach for interoperating simul...
متن کاملZeigler DEVS NAMESPACE FOR INTEROPERABLE DEVS / SOA
Interoperable DEVS modeling and simulation is desirable to enhance model composability and reusability with DEVS models and non-DEVS models in different languages and platforms. The barrier to such interoperability is that DEVS simulators implement the DEVS modeling formalism in diverse programming environments. Although the DEVS formalism specifies the same abstract simulator algorithm, differ...
متن کاملDEVS Unified Process for Web-Centric Development and Testing of System of Systems
A critical aspect and differentiator of a System of Systems (SoS) versus a single monolithic system is interoperability among the constituent disparate systems. A major application of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) to SoS Engineering is to facilitate system integration in a manner that helps to cope with such interoperability problems. A case in point is the integration infrastructure offered by...
متن کاملUsing Domain-Specific Languages to Improve the Scale and Integration of Cognitive Models
Air Force Research Lab (AFRL) research efforts to transition cognitive modeling from the laboratory to operational environments are finding that available architectures and tools are difficult to extend, lack support for interoperability standards, and struggle to scale. This paper describes a component-based cognitive modeling and simulation framework that exploits the Discrete Event System Sp...
